この度 SH GALLERYでは、仲衿香の個展「Slightly Off」を開催いたします。
仲衿香は、現代に存在している断片的な記号を視覚的な要素として絵画空間に落とし込み、抽象的な意味を可視化させた図形を再構築する気鋭のアーティストです。
絵具を支持体に厚塗りにのせて描くと、絵具が自分の予想を超えた動きをする瞬間があり、自分と支持体の間に“ズレ”が生まれるーー。仲は思い通りにならないそのズレにこそ、魅力を感じています。
「現在地」「LANDSCAPE OF THE WEB」「ICON」などの代表的なシリーズの新作が一堂に会する今回の展示空間を、ぜひお楽しみください。
ーー仲衿香は、日常に氾濫した商品のアイコン、インターネットで流通するコードなど、視認性が強い記号を描く画家である。しかし彼女の関心は、記号の内実というよりも外形、いわば器としての記号にあり、絵画に描くことで記号の成り立ちを問いかけている。また彼女は記号の社会的な効果、つまり記号がわたしたちの生活に及ぼす影響に目を向けているーー

SH GALLERY is pleased to announce “Slightly Off,” a solo exhibition by Erika Naka.
Erika Naka is an up-and-coming artist who incorporates fragmentary, everyday symbols into the painterly space as visual elements, reconstructing shapes that visualize abstract meanings.
When applying paint thickly onto the support, moments arise where the medium moves beyond her expectations, creating a “shift” between the artist and the support. It is precisely in this uncontrollable discrepancy that Naka finds fascination.
Bringing together new additions to her signature series—including “Current Location,” “LANDSCAPE OF THE WEB,” and “ICON”—we invite you to experience and enjoy this exhibition space.
“Erika Naka is a painter who depicts highly visible symbols, such as icons of everyday commodities and codes circulating on the internet. However, her interest lies less in the inner content of these symbols than in their outward forms—symbols as containers, so to speak—questioning the very formation of symbols by capturing them on canvas. Furthermore, she turns her attention to the social impact of these symbols—that is, the influence they exert on our daily lives.”

仲は現代に存在している断片的な記号を視覚的な要素として絵画空間に落とし込み、抽象的な意味を可視化させた図形を再構築している。絵具を支持体に厚塗りにのせて描くと、絵具が自分の予想を超えた動きをする瞬間があり、自分と支持体の間に“ズレ”が生まれ、思い通りにならないそのズレにこそ、魅力を感じている。
若手アーティストとして、絵画の可能性を探求し続け、伝統的な絵画形式を打ち破り、「瞬間性」と「偶然性」を直接的に表現し、主体性を排した画面の絵具の厚さや積み重ねられたグラデーション、柔らかくクリーミーな質感は強い視覚的なインパクトを与えるだけでなく、無限なる好奇心と想像を掻き立てている。
Naka drops fragmented symbols that have existed in the contemporary world into the pictorial space as visual elements and reassembles them into shapes that make visible their abstract meanings.
When she paints with a thick layer of paint on the support, there are moments when the paint moves beyond her expectations, creating a “slippage” between herself and the support, and she finds this slippage fascinating because it is not always what she expects.
As a young artist, she continues to explore the possibilities of painting, breaking with traditional painting forms and directly expressing “instantaneity” and “coincidence.” The paint thickness, layered gradation, and soft, creamy texture of her paintings, without subjectivity, not only have a strong visual impact, but also arouse unlimited curiosity and imagination.
